(02N05) Online SI Module 2: 7 October 2019
The online SI Module 2 course, accredited by Ulster University, is the second part of the modular pathway which also offers the opportunity to work towards a Postgraduate Diploma or Masters in Sensory Integration. This course is open to Occupational Therapists, Speech & Language Therapists and Physiotherapists only.
SI Module 2 Online focuses on the key concepts of Ayres’ Sensory Integration. Students will explore the patterns of sensory integration dysfunction, sensory integration models and the principles and practice of assessment. Students will develop clinical reasoning skills and the ability to synthesise assessment information relevant to sensory integration. By the end of the module students will begin the process of interpretation of sensory integration assessment information.
Length: 16 weeks
Hours: Online Content and contact with Mentors - 55hrs, Independent study (including assessment) 245 hrs, Total effort: 300 hrs.
SI Module 2 Online will provide students with an in-depth understanding of the key concepts of Ayres’ Sensory Integration. During the module, students will explore the patterns of sensory integration dysfunction, from both a historical perspective and current research and practice. Students will develop their understanding of a range of models related to sensory integration theory and practice.
The module will explore the principles and practice of assessment, with a focus on assessments relevant to sensory integration. Students will develop clinical reasoning skills and the ability to synthesise assessment data. By the end of the module students will be able to begin the process of interpretation of the complex information gained from the sensory integration assessment process.
Students will be fully supported throughout SI Module 2 by a team of Advanced Practitioner e-mentors, who will engage with the students and play a key role in facilitating their clinical development through a range of methods.
