Mentoring support for CYP with SEMH needs
We meet the needs of pupils on our SEN register who have SEMH needs by way of informal ‘drop-in’ sessions, 1 to 1 input and specialist mental health support worker sin school on weekly basis. The primary mental health worker is employed across a number of schools in the local area. Access to this provision also allows us to access training, such as Mental Health First Aid for young people. We also have mentors in school who support students during the day. Our school-based mentor carries out a form of assessment, namely ‘Revised CADS’, to measure risk of anxiety and other mental health issues. Our mentor will sit and work through student’s needs at any point in time. This level of provision is needed as a response to the number of young people on role who have a range of SEMH needs.
