Best Practice in Early Years SEND Provision.
For many years Harrington nursery school has been recognised by the local authority as an outstanding provider for children with additional needs. We are a mainstream nursery that puts the children at the heart of everything we do. Many families have travelled to us in order that their child can receive the best possible provision in early years education. Our staff have between them a significant number of years’ experience working with children with Special Educational needs. This has ranged from children with autism, physical impairments, cerebral Palsy, Downs Syndrome, Hurlers disease, triple X short arm chromosome, amongst many other disabilities. We have offered care which is often administered by school nurses in special schools. For example: testing children's blood sugars, feeding children enterally by the PEG / Pump systems. We believe our setting is a richer, more diverse environment which celebrates achievement for all and the uniqueness of the individual child.
