Bereavement Plan
Following the unexpected death of a parent our pastoral team had to very quickly develop a plan to support two children and train staff in grief and bereavement. Both these resources have helped us greatly and would be invaluable if such a tragedy occurred again. Establishing good communication between home and school was vital to ensure sensitive and appropriate support and arming staff with relevant information made sure that we were sensitive to the needs of the family and could help the children with their grief.
We have now a guidance sheet for staff and list of resources and a procedure for us to follow if this should happen again.
