Place2Be is the leading UK charity provider of school-based mental health support, unlocking children and young people's potential in the classroom - and beyond.
Over the past 20 years, Place2Be has specialised in working in schools to help staff and parents identify and meet the social, emotional and mental health needs of the children and young people in their care. We work directly in schools to enhance the wellbeing of children, young people and their families by providing access to therapeutic and emotional support. We do this using a proven model, backed up by research and training.
Up to 50% of all the children and young people who access Place2Be's services have some sort of special educational need or disability. We aim to work in close liaison with Heads, SENCOs, other staff, parents, professionals and the child or young person themselves in order to help provide a personalised approach that is responsive to individual needs.
With the inclusion of Social, Emotional and Mental Health as a main category of need within the draft SEND Code of Practice, Place2Be is an expert in the field of helping schools identify and meet the needs of these vulnerable children.
At Place2Be we aim to work in partnership with organisations who are also working with children who are vulnerable and disadvantaged. One of our current partnerships is with Achievement for All. Together, we are working in primary schools to help meet the social, emotional and mental health needs of pupils, and raise pupil achievement, including those with SEND.
