Key Stage 1 Intervention Class for SEMH
The class was created with the wellbeing of the children. The expectations of the class was that the children would be accessing the curriculum through highly differentiated activities that would build on social and emotional skills as well as progress academically. These skills were what these specific children had not developed while in early years due to abuse, being taken into care or behaviour linked to their emotional needs. The children all started as a cohort that had made no progress in the first term, one was only accessing school for an hour a day. By the end of the academic year, all the children were working at expected in Reading, Writing and Maths and have now began their integration back into mainstream.
