Integration of a SEMH (ADHD) child from reduced timetable to mainstream provision
A child, by May of Reception year, started to show aggression due to expectations being raised. He would attack staff with items and led to one member of staff going on long term sick leave due to injury. Steps included a reduced timetable from 1 hour with support from behaviour services. On return to Year 1 (Autumn Term) he was emotionally unable to focus or participate in a mainstream setting. He was slowly reintegrated from 2 adults working with him in a small room which built up to a class of 4 children with 2 adults. He moved to mainstream for the afternoons with support from an SEN assistant with the intention to go to full time mainstream by the end of Year 2. He is now in SEMH provision.
