Effective use of THRIVE to support CYP with SEMH needs.
Once a year (usually in July) we screen every child in the school using the THRIVE screener. Teachers have a slot with the THRIVE lead in the school and they go through a checklist. This is put onto a database which identifies children that may need either group or 1:1 THRIVE sessions. These children are screened individually and an action plan is devised (this is all done electronically). We have trained 9 staff members and we have 5 currently delivering the sessions. The child has 3 x 20-30 minute sessions per week working on action plan. We assess them at least twice a year to track their progress. The assessment is split into different areas and by age bands. It will identify the biggest gaps and bases the action plan on this. The programme also gives ideas for teaching and activities to do. It is also not only about the sessions themselves but also about HQT provision such as having a ‘check in’ every morning or what adults can do when they interacting with that child.
