FFT (Fisher Family Trust Wave 3) intervention is fully embedded in school as an early support approach for pupils to close the gap whilst monitoring pupils before being considered to go onto the SEN register. Staff are able to discuss with the Headteacher discusses who would be appropriate to support via this intervention in Year 1 and Year 2. Strategies are then explicitly transferred to the classroom. Better Reading is also available as a follow-on if needed.
NOTE – I have personally seen the positive impact this has made on my own daughter. The gap is narrowing, she is now reading at an age-appropriate level, she is engaged with reading and has not needed to go on the SEN register at this stage as she is making progress.
